How can you benefit from Dr. Kuang’s chiropractic adjustments?
A joint in the body that is misaligned will not move correctly and if left unaddressed, will lead to injury. A chiropractic adjustment will accomplish a couple of very important things: it removes pain by allowing the joints in the body to move freely again, it restores full range of motion to the body, and optimizes the functioning of your central nervous system.
What is a chiropractic adjustment?
A chiropractic adjustment is a very gentle and minimally invasive procedure that requires a high level of skill to execute. It is utilized to realign and restore proper motion to the joints in the body. While Dr. Kuang is highly skilled to treat the joints in the spine, his training allows him to administer chiropractic adjustments to all the joints in the body, including those in the arms and legs.
Do chiropractic adjustments hurt?
A chiropractic treatment will not hurt. You may feel a slight tenderness following an adjustment that comes from the improved range of motion that was restored to the joint. This is the desired effect of the adjustment and the tenderness will go away in a few days.
Is it true that once I see a chiropractor, I have to one for the rest of my life?
This is not true. Dr. Kuang believes that the best thing he can do for his patients is to educate them on how they can take care of themselves so that they no longer have to rely on him to live a healthy lifestyle. When you first walk into his office with a symptom, he will definitely resolve that symptom for you, but his emphasis remains on enhancing your performance as a human. This is because he believes that what enhances performance inherently decreases pain. With that being said, many patients are so satisfied with his treatments that they do become lifelong patients that enroll in a routine maintenance program with him.
What is the popping and cracking sound I hear when I get adjusted?
The popping and cracking you hear when you get adjusted is not a bad thing and is quite normal. When a joint is stuck and out of position, pressure builds in a joint and gas starts to form within it as a result. An adjustment releases the joint, restores proper positioning of the joint, and the cracking sound you hear comes from built up gas and pressure being released.
How can I benefit from ART soft tissue manipulation?
When a muscle or other soft tissue structure is overused, or used improperly such as in a hamstring tear or ankle sprain, scar tissue starts to form within it. Similar to a scar you see on the surface of the skin from a cut, scar tissue within a muscle does not expand and contract like normal tissue does. In fact, when you try to contract the muscle with scar tissue in it, or put pressure on it, it feels tender. This is what people refer to as a “tight muscle” or “knot” in the muscle. In addition to causing tenderness, scar tissue can put pressure on nerves and decrease joint range of motion. Active release technique combines the deep tissue massage you would get from a massage with advanced stretching techniques to quickly remove the scar tissue formation within your soft tissues.
How can I benefit from a movement screening?
Many of the injuries we face as humans come from improper movement mechanics. Believe it or not, walking, sitting, standing and running are all very complex phenomena we perform on a daily basis and largely take for granted because they come so naturally to us. The majority of the population has not been taught how to perform these movements correctly. Fortunately, Dr. Kuang is here to analyze these movements, along with any other movements that you perform on a daily basis, and give you customized strengthening exercises, stretches and joint mobilizations you can do on your own time to move correctly and prevent injuries.
